Newcomers Network

The Newcomers Network is a set of 2 events designed to ensure that families who are new to Frostwood feel welcomed, are provided with useful information, and are given the opportunity to make personal connections within the school early on in the school year.

Newcomers Orientation

A meeting typically held immediately before  Meet the Teacher that provides useful information about Frostwood Elementary and Spring Branch ISD for families who are new to the school and possibly district. Incoming kindergarten and prekindergarten families are welcomed and encouraged at this event, but it is primarily geared towards families who are new to the school and entering grades 1-5. Incoming kindergarten and prekindergarten families may hear some repeat information.

RSVPs are not required for this event.

Tiger Buddy Program

The Tiger Buddies program is a wonderful program that pairs a new Frostwood family with an existing Frostwood family. While many Frostwood families are our neighbors, there are some families coming into our school who may be new to the area or even Houston and could benefit from a familiar face. Having a personal point of contact about the various ins and outs of our school can be so helpful! Current Frostwood families can sign up to be a mentor family on Big Form. New Frostwood families can sign up to be matched with a current Frostwood family on Big Form as well. Registration is required to participate in the Tiger Buddy program so that families can be matched with one another. Current families are paired up with a new Frostwood family to help them navigate starting at Frostwood as needed and are encouraged to come to the Tiger Buddies Playdate held in the late afternoon on a Sunday in September. This casual come-and-go event helps our new Frostwood families start making the friendships we all know and love at our school. 

An RSVP is not required for the Playdate—all are welcome!

Class Coffees

A Frostwood Tradition- at the start of each school year we ask that one parent attends their student's grade level coffee. Hosted by a fellow grade level family, Class Coffees give everyone the invaluable opportunity to hear from Principal Hiler as well as other FWE staff members about the school year ahead. PTA Board Members also attend to provide information on special events and how to get involved!
